Early summer 2008 - we have been pleased with the numbers of visitors at Skiddaw House, and have had many volunteer work days, and visits from organised work parties, which have been very productive.

Tree-planting

Grampus Heritage Training have recently booked a week-end visit with us at the end of May. They are interested in the regeneration of our wooded area at the back of the hostel.........

Volunteer weekend

During the snowy weekend of the 12th and 13th of April, 5 or 6 volunteers tackled various jobs at the hostel.

Skiddaw House Geocache!!

A geocache has been set up near Skiddaw House and is now available for geocachers to find. Go to http://www.geocaching.com/ to find out about geocashing and to get the coordinates for the new cache. Bearing in mind that Skiddaw House is in the middle of Skiddaw Forest, an area locally know as "Back o' Skiddaw", the cache name is WADDIKS !
We look forward to welcoming geocachers to Skiddaw House hostel.

HOW TO BOOK

The best way to be sure of a bed is to book in advance. You can contact the warden in the following ways:

By Telephone: 07747 174293
By emailing the warden here.

Please allow plenty of time to send and receive responses - postal mail can take up to a week. Also phone reception can be variable in bad weather.

To confirm bookings please send a letter along with full payment (cheques made out to ‘Skiddaw House’).

Please note that we have no credit/ debit card facilities. All payments should be made in advance by cash or cheque.
